Summary:
Public health surveillance data indicates that influenza-like illness (ILI) is very high in Holmes County for Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), 52. The percentage of ILI outpatient visits increased from 18 patients to 31 patients for the MMWR 52 (Table 1). The percentage change for outpatient ILI visits increased 72% (Table 1). ILI emergency room visits increased over the last week (Table 1), and we are seeing a proportional increase (26%) in ILI visits to the emergency room when compared to overall visits for any general reason (Figure 5). There were 13 cases of Influenza A, 2 cases of Influenza B, and 0 cases of RSV in Holmes County during the MMWR (Figure 2) (Figure 3). There were 0 deaths associated with Influenza during the MMWR (Table 1).
Influenza-associated hospitalizations increased to 4, moving above the 5-year average for Holmes County (Figure 6). Emergency room data suggests that the age groups most impacted by ILI are 25–49 and 65+ (Figure 4). Finally, there were 9 Covid-19 cases reported in the county, an increase compared to the previous MMWR (Table 3). There were no new deaths recorded during the MMWR, and 1 new hospitalization associated with Covid-19 (Table 3).
